A free browser game deserves short terms. These are the rules for using Word Search Battle, and what you can reasonably expect from it.

The agreement
By using Word Search Battle you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the game. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the law where you live.
Who runs this
Word Search Battle is made and operated by an independent developer. It is not a registered company, and there is no organisation behind it — which is worth knowing when you read the rest of this page. It is a small game, run by a person.
Age
The game is suitable for a wide range of ages. It has no chat, nothing to buy, and asks for no personal information. If you are under the age at which you can agree to terms like these where you live, please use it with a parent or guardian's permission.
How you may use it
Play it, share a room link with a friend, and tell people about it. That is the whole intended use, and there is no licence to buy or account to keep.
What you may not do
- Cheat. Modifying the game in your browser, automating play, or using a script to find words is not playing. The server referees every match, so this mostly does not work — but doing it is still a breach of these terms.
- Disrupt the service. No flooding the servers with requests, no attacking the matchmaking queue, no opening rooms in bulk, no attempts to break or overload the infrastructure.
- Abuse rooms. Do not use room codes or nicknames to harass someone, and do not try to join a private room you were not invited to.
- Scrape or copy the service. No automated harvesting of pages, and no republishing the game as your own.
- Interfere with advertising. If ads are shown, do not click your own ads, encourage others to click ads, or use software to generate clicks or impressions. This is both a breach of these terms and a breach of the advertising provider's rules.
- Do anything illegal with the game or through it.
Nicknames
A nickname is the only thing you write that another person sees. Choose one you would be happy to show a stranger. Nicknames that are abusive, hateful, sexual, or that impersonate someone else are not acceptable, and we may block access for anyone using them.
Nicknames are limited to 14 characters and stripped of anything other than letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens and underscores. They live only as long as the room does.
Availability
The game is free and provided as it is. There is no uptime promise: it may be unavailable while it is being updated, if the hosting provider has a problem, or for any other reason. Features may change or be removed, and the whole thing may one day stop.
Matches are not saved. If a room expires or a match is interrupted, that game is gone — there is nothing to restore.
Ownership
The name, the design, the artwork and the code of Word Search Battle belong to its operator. Please do not copy the game and pass it off as yours. The individual words the game uses are ordinary English words and belong to nobody.
If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, write to us with enough detail to identify the material and we will look into it.
Third parties and advertising
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, and their handling of connection data is covered in theprivacy policy.
The game may show advertising in future. Ads are supplied by third parties, and we do not control or endorse what they contain or where they lead. If an ad is broken, misleading or inappropriate, tell us and we can raise it with the provider.
Liability
The game is provided without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. It is a word game: it is not fit for any particular purpose beyond being one, and losing a match is not a loss we can compensate.
To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the game. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Suspension
There are no accounts to close, but access can be blocked where someone is attacking the service, cheating persistently, abusing other players or generating invalid advertising traffic.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change as the game does. The date at the top of this page shows when they last did. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms do not name a governing law or a court, because doing so honestly requires the operator's country and legal status to be settled first. That is a deliberate omission rather than an oversight, and it will be completed before this is presented as a finished legal document.
